Neptune Frost ist ein Sci-Fi-Punk-Musical des US-amerikanischen Dichters und Musikers Saul Williams und der in Ruanda geborenen Künstlerin und Filmemacherin Anisia Uzeyman. Es spielt auf den Hügeln von Burundi, wo eine Gruppe entkommener Coltan-Bergleute ein antikolonialistisches Computer-Hacker-Kollektiv bildet. Von ihrem Lager in einer unwirklichen Elektroschrott-Müllhalde aus versuchen sie, das autoritäre Regime mit gezielten Cyberangriffen zu stürzen, das die natürlichen Ressourcen der Region – und ihre Menschen – ausbeutet. Die Gruppe ruft dazu auf, neue Technologien zu nutzen, um progressive politische Ziele zu erreichen.

Neptune Frost is a sci-fi punk musical by the U.S. poet and musician Saul Williams and the Rwandan-born artist and cinematographer Anisia Uzeyman. It takes place on the hilltops of Burundi, where a group of escaped coltan miners forms an anti-colonialist computer hacker collective. From their camp in an otherworldly e-waste dump, they attempt a takeover of the authoritarian regime exploiting the region’s natural resources – and its people – and call to reclaim technology for progressive political ends.
