Karolina Magnusson Murray lives and works in London. She is the Head of Arts Department at FOLD Night Club / Futur.Shock in London.

Since joining FOLD she has curated and produced over 14 separate experimental Sound/Audio-Visual events. She has been successful with multiple ACE funding bids for FOLD including being awarded the Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant to produce the launch of the first hybrid programme for Futur.Shock. Recently, in October 2021 she produced a live Audio-Visual screening of Turner Prize Winner Tai Shani’s latest film The Neon Hieroglyphs, Redux Alive with a Live Scoring by composer Maxwell Sterling and narration by Molly Moody.

Karolina is responsible for creating a formalised partnership with UCL Interactive Architecture Lab and FOLD, which instigated a recent collaboration with Ars Electronica and UCL, and culminated in an exhibition called PolySocial Realities and Virtualities. Themes, interests and points of reference within her work include, intentionality; intellectual property; collaboration; recursion; closed systems, and criticism. She is particularly interested in the underlying processes that shape artistic practice including the conceptual frameworks of the dialogue and nomenclature of Art.

Magnusson Murray has performed and exhibited worldwide; including Pierogi (The Boiler) New York, USA (touring performance event); Solo Show in Ladron Galeria, Mexico City, Mexico; Live Action 12 International Performance Art Festival, Gothenburg Sweden; Liverpool Biennial 9, Liverpool, UK; Christian Marclay: Reenactments of Full Bottle and Wine Glass by George Maciunas, White Cube Bermondsey, London, UK; Guangzhou Live Festival 5, Guangzhou, China.

In 2016, she was selected for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition in ICA London, was shortlisted in 2017 for the Aesthetica Art Prize and awarded the Hotel Elephant’s Small Commission. She was shortlisted for the 2016 Solo Award and won the 2015 Ingram Collection of Modern, British & Contemporary Art Purchase Prize. She has also been granted a commission via the Southwark Art Council Fund.
