Carla J. Maier ist Wissenschaftlerin im Bereich Sound Studies und postkoloniale Studien und Herausgeberin von Norient Books. Sie hat Artikel und Bücher über elektronische Pop- und Clubmusik, postkoloniale und transkulturelle Aspekte der Musikproduktion und Klangkunst, alltägliche urbane Klangpraktiken und Klangökologien sowie über dekoloniale Ansätze in der Hörpraxis und -forschung veröffentlicht. Ihre jüngsten Arbeiten befassen sich mit den verwickelten multisensorischen, (anti-)kolonialen und artenübergreifenden Dimensionen zeitgenössischer Umweltthemen. Sie ist Autorin von Transcultural Sound Practices: British Asian Dance Music as Cultural Transformation (2020) und «On Rhythming: A Manifesto» (mit Melissa Van Drie, 2022). 

Carla J. Maier is a sound studies and postcolonial studies scholar and editor of Norient Books. She has published on electronic popular and club music, postcolonial and transcultural aspects of music production and sound art, everyday urban sound practices and sonic ecologies, as well as decolonial approaches in listening practice and research. Her recent work deals with the entangled multi-sensorial, (anti-)colonial, and multi-species dimensions of contemporary environmental issues.
